How do you know that your dog is happy? He has a keen eye, he is alert and attentive. He wags his tail when he sees you, he plays with you enthusiastically, wisely awaits your return. How to keep it so vibrant and healthy? Here are 10 tips to provide him with a favourable environment.
A healthy dog
1- Give him a suitable diet!
Indeed, depending on the breed of your dog: small (dachshund, jack Russel, chihuahua), medium (spaniel, border collie, chow-chow) or large (Bernese mountain dog, collie, German shepherd), the food will not respond to the same needs. Likewise, if it is a puppy, an adult or a senior. The food must also follow the health concerns of your animal: digestive sensitivity, overweight.
Although meat is the majority of their diets domestic dogs get nutrients from fruits, grains and other vegetables. These non-meat food items aren’t only fillers but are a potent source of vital minerals, vitamins, and fibre. A quality dog food should consist of meat and grains, vegetables as well as fruits.
2- Detect the first signs of illness.
You are the person who knows your pitbull corgi mix best. If you observe a change in his behaviour: lack of enthusiasm for games, reluctance to go out for a walk, lack of appetite, sleep badly… consult your veterinarian. Likewise, brush it from time to time and on the way, check its coat for ticks after a walk in the tall grass, check its eyes, ears.

3- Take your dog out every day at least 20 to 30 minutes a day, so that he can stretch his legs if he has been locked up all day, and you will benefit from it too. Do not hesitate to vary the itinerary!
4- From time to time, take him to a large park, or any other open space where he can run, and occasionally meet other dogs and play with them.

A dog that has its place in the home, in the family circle
5- Reserve a corner in the house just for him, for his basket and his toys. Preferably, separate the places where he sleeps, where he eats and where he relieves himself.
6- Set up a routine based on your habits: mealtimes, outing times, playtime, cuddling times… The routine lets him know what to expect: you’re coming home from work; nice, he will soon be able to go out!
7- The dog is left alone for several hours? Leave a few toys within reach for him to occupy himself while waiting for you to return.

8- Learn to decipher your dog’s language, interpret his postures. This way, you will know what your dog needs, and you will also be able to prevent his reactions!
9- Give him special moments, especially when a major change disrupts his routine: the arrival of a newborn, a new dog, new home and new environment.
10- During these moments that you spend alone with your dog, where you play, where you train him, offer him treats (in moderation!).
